Send SMS from Splynx Using the touchSMS API
We’re excited to announce that you can now send SMS from Splynx using the touchSMS API, allowing businesses to send notifications directly from the CRM.
For internet service providers, managed service providers, and network operators who rely on Splynx to manage customers, billing, and network infrastructure, this integration makes it easier to communicate with customers quickly and reliably.
Once configured, Splynx can automatically send SMS messages via touchSMS for a variety of operational and customer-facing notifications.
In this article, we’ll explain what the integration enables and provide examples of how SMS can be used within Splynx. You can find the full technical setup instructions in our support documentation.
Why Use SMS with Splynx?
Email notifications can easily be missed or delayed, while SMS messages have extremely high open rates and are typically read within minutes.
By connecting Splynx to the touchSMS API, you can deliver important information to customers immediately, including:
Billing notifications
Service alerts
Payment reminders
Appointment confirmations
Network outage notifications
Because the integration uses the touchSMS API, messages can be triggered automatically by Splynx events, workflows, or administrative actions.
Examples of SMS Use in Splynx
Once the integration is configured, SMS messages can be sent directly from Splynx to customers using their mobile numbers stored in the CRM.
Here are some common examples.
Payment Reminder Notifications
Internet providers often use Splynx to manage billing and invoicing. With SMS enabled, you can send automated reminders when a payment is due.
Example message:
Hi John, this is a reminder that your internet service invoice is due tomorrow. Please log in to your customer portal to make payment. Thank you.
This helps reduce overdue accounts and ensures customers receive reminders promptly.
Network Outage Alerts
If a network outage or scheduled maintenance is detected, Splynx can trigger SMS notifications to affected customers.
Example message:
Network update: We are currently investigating a service interruption in your area. Our engineers are working to restore connectivity as quickly as possible.
These alerts allow customers to stay informed without needing to contact support.
Service Activation Notifications
When a new service is activated in Splynx, customers can receive an SMS confirmation.
Example message:
Your internet service has now been activated. If you experience any issues getting online, please contact our support team.
This provides reassurance and improves the onboarding experience.
Appointment Confirmations
If technicians are scheduled through Splynx, SMS reminders can help reduce missed appointments.
Example message:
Reminder: Your technician appointment is scheduled for tomorrow between 9am and 11am.
SMS reminders significantly reduce no-shows and improve scheduling efficiency.
Two-Way Customer Communication
Depending on how your messaging setup is configured, customers may also be able to reply to SMS messages for quick support responses or confirmations.
This enables faster communication without requiring customers to log in to a portal or open an email.
How the Integration Works
The integration works by connecting Splynx to the touchSMS API, which handles message delivery to mobile networks.
Once configured:
- Splynx sends the SMS request to the touchSMS API
- touchSMS processes and routes the message
- The SMS is delivered to the customer’s mobile device
Because touchSMS is designed for high-volume messaging, it provides reliable delivery and detailed reporting on message status.
